The Vortex Vulcan is sized for the shop that melts every day but rarely melts large. A 1 kg graphite crucible takes buy-back jewellery, casting sprues and bench scrap, and an induction coil brings the charge to pouring temperature in minutes rather than the twenty a resistance furnace would need.
Because induction heats the metal itself, the charge spends less time hot. That means less oxidation, less zinc burned out of karat alloys, and a composition that still matches what you weighed in. The stirring effect of the field mixes added copper and silver evenly, so an alloy comes out consistent rather than layered.
Temperature is set and held rather than judged by eye, and the unit runs on single-phase supply with air cooling — no water circuit to maintain, and no three-phase installation to arrange before it can be switched on.

For most retail counters, yes. A 1 kg furnace comfortably covers customer buy-backs, bench scrap and small casting. Move up a size only if you routinely melt more than a kilogram in a single session.
No. The Vortex Vulcan runs on a standard single-phase supply. Tell us the voltage and frequency at your premises when you order and the unit is configured for it; fit a stabiliser sized to the rated draw if your supply dips under load.
Yes, along with karat alloys and copper. Keep a separate crucible per metal so contamination is not carried between melts.
The Vortex Vulcan uses a standard 1 kg graphite crucible, currently $45. Keep a spare on the shelf so a cracked one never costs you a working day.
